BUSINESS REPORT – The current information reaching mynationnews.com according to a report by Daily Star UK, a routine flight turned into a nightmare for passengers as part of the plane they were travelling on disintegrated in mid air.
United Airlines flight 1175 alerted officials at Honolulu airport while the crisis unfolded after it departed from San Francisco.
Passenger Erik Haddad tweeted several shocking images and a video that would send chills down the spin of even the most-seasoned flyer.
Footage shows the protective covering from the engine had completely fallen off during the tense flight.
But, Haddad was able to make light of the situation and posted an image of himself holding an in-flight manual with the caption: “I don’t see anything about this in the manual”.
The photo was later retweeted 3,700 times.
Mum Allison Sudiacal, who was travelling with her four-month-old son, said she feared the worst.
The passenger said: “There was a loud boom, and then it was like rattling and the plane was kind of shaking like boom, boom, boom.
“It was scary. But they did a really good job.”
The Federal Aviation Administration said the pilot “declared an emergency due to a vibration in the right engine” and an investigation has been launched.
Hawaii’s Department of Transportation said aircraft and rescue crews raced to the landed plane once it landed, “as a precaution”.
